BOYS BARKER HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL SEASON UPDATE

We are thrilled to confirm that the High School Barker Basketball season will start on Saturday, December 17th. The team game schedules for the first 2 weeks will be posted on the website and sent out via email early next week.

The season will run for 9 weeks and each team will have 2 bye-weeks. We will NOT have games on December 24th or 31st but WILL have games over weekends during February vacation week. The regular season will end on Feburary 25th with playoff games to follow on March 4th, 11th, and 18th (all teams make the playoffs). The Championship game will be held on March 25th.

Before the league starts, we would like to review some housekeeping items.

  1. Once the League starts, all future League information will be posted to the High School Barker Basketball website.  There may be occasional emails during the season, but plan on checking the Barker website on a weekly basis for any schedules or updates.
  2. There will be 7 games each night.  First game will start at 5:00pm and the last game will start at 10:00pm.  To stay on schedule, it is imperative that all games start on time.  Please arrive 10 minutes before the game so that all players can be entered into the score book before the start of the game.
  3. The League is extremely fortunate to have 2 experienced referees working the games for us.  We expect respect to be shown to the referees and other players.  The League has over a dozen year history of competitive, fun, respectful play.  We fully anticipate that tradition will continue.

We are looking forward to a great season.

Thanks,

Barker High School Committee

2022-2023 BARKER HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL REGISTRATION OPEN

Battle for King of the Court is about to begin!

Hingham’s Boys High School Barker Basketball is BACK!

Grab your buddies, pick your team’s name and get ready to rumble on Saturday nights at the South Shore Sports Center.  Don’t miss out! Spots limited!

IMPORTANT!! We expect this year to fill up fast. To be fair, the 16 teams with at least 8 paid players will be entered to play on a first come, first enrolled basis. Please recruit your team and have your players sign up ASAP! Until your team has at least 8 paid players, you will not be entered into the League.

KEY SEASON DETAILS:

  • ALL GAMES are on SATURDAY NIGHT at the SOUTH SHORE SPORTS CENTER.
  • Playoffs run into March 2023.
  • In High School Barker, the players are in charge. Players build their own teams, name their teams, create their own jerseys, and manage their own playing time during games. While adult referees will be at the game, adult coaches will no longer be there. However, one adult per team must be present at SSSC while a team plays.
  • There is only room for a maximum of 16 teams.  Sign up early to secure your spot.  A minimum of 8 PAID players are required to be considered a team and then enrolled in the League. Teams are enrolled once they get 8 paid players and enrollment is first come, first serve.
  • Teams cannot have more than 50% of their roster made up of players from any Varsity team.
  • Cost for the season is $150 which covers the court rental fee and three patched Refs per game. Please note: cost does not include jerseys. Details on jerseys below.
  • It takes a community to keep this league running! As such, each team must have an Adult Contact. See details below.

HOW TO REGISTER

  • Build your roster and pick a team name. Identify an Adult Contact (see description below).
    • LEAGUE’s ROSTER VARSITY RULE: Teams cannot have more than half the team made up of players on any High School Varsity team.  During games, no more than 2 Varsity players on the court are allowed at any time. Rosters need to ensure that each team can play 5 players on the court on game day and not exceed the League’s Varsity Player Rule.
  • Register using this Registration link:

https://hsp-barker-basketball.sportngin.com/register/form/413443123

  • Each player needs to sign-up/pay individually on-line, and designate which team you are on (insert the team name, e.g. Dr. Funke).   Please sign up as part of a team you have coordinated with.
  • Please sign up early but no later than November 30th.  Players must sign up AND pay to play on the first night in December. A minimum of 8 PAID players are required to be considered a team. Only teams with 8 PAID players will be added to League on a first come first serve basis.
  • List of teams enrolled in the League can be found here. If your team is not yet listed, that means you do not yet have 8 enrolled players.

  • If a player does NOT have a team, he can opt to sign up as a Free Agent. PLEASE NOTE! We cannot guarantee placement of Free Agents - registration fees will be refunded as needed.  The HS Executive Staff does not create teams.
  • Cost is $150. Additional sibling(s) sign-ups in any of the other boys' Barker Leagues (grades 2-8) will be discounted by $25; a third sibling will be an additional discount of $25. The discount does not apply to the youth Barker League.
  • ADULT CONTACTS: Each squad must name an Adult Contact (over 21 years old) to be considered a legitimate team.  Contacts are responsible for cascading communications; player conduct; and ensuring coverage by an adult at each game.  There will be an Adult Contacts’ meeting prior to the beginning of the season to outline commitments.
  • JERSEYS: Cost to play does not include cost of jerseys. Teams are responsible for supplying their own jerseys. Though many teams have designed their own jerseys, teams can also wear youth Barker jerseys or any other jerseys as long they have numbers, are reversible and are the same color.
